The show is the just finished airing season of Power Rangers. Airing for 2 years until the titles of Megaforce and Super Megaforce (creative they are not) Gia and Emma are the yellow and pink rangers. They have a special flower that they go find in the woods together. And then they have an argument about whether they should tell everyone that they are "best friends" or if they should keep it a secret. (And then an alien dominatrix bee turns the boys into her sex slaves and makes the girls have a dramatic argument that involves them ripping a photo of themselves in half but the power of their
lovefriendship saves the day.) (Look, power rangers is weird.) And at the end they come out in a newspaper. However, Jake is the black/green ranger, who has a crush on Gia (the blonde.) He... is a stereotypical nice guy. Who spends two seasons being That Guy. After two seasons of being annoyed by him and clearly having been dating Emma, Gia kisses him on the cheek.
And as Power Rangers is determined to be the fandom that breaks rule 34 and kills kink memes, there is not nearly enough porn.

Cops? Try SPD. Magic? Mystic Force. Post apocalyptic future and a failbot mafia kid? RPM. Stoner werewolf who run a pizza place? Jungle Fury.
Also it is streaming on netflix and amazon prime and all the seasons are out on DVD. :D

But yeah nah, the way the show played out Jake/Gia would be textbook awful "dude deserves woman for existing" no matter what Ciara said in interviews.
Also, you seem to be misinformed as to what "queerbaiting" means, because every single joke I have seen Ciara make about Gia and Emma's ridiculous chemistry is clearly coming from a place that acknowledges the show isn't run by people who would let it go there. The "baiting" part of queerbaiting kind of hinges on cast and/or crew fostering a false hope.

Also, Gia/Emma forever. I mean, COME ON. They have a special flower.

Gia is clearly disinterested. Her teammates seem to acknowledge her disinterest. In the epi where Robo Knight is going around asking what love is she gives a very sarcastic go ask Jake and continues with her workout routine. When Robo Knight goes to talk to Jake, even he with his limited knowledge of humans, says he won't learn anything from Jake. I haven't watched all of Super Megaforce, but from what I understand it doesn't get much better than what happened in Megaforce except that she kisses him on the cheek in the end.
I get that they're in high school and Jake has a lot to learn, but he should've learned on the show. The show, in other seasons, had guys who needed to learn similar lessons to the ones Jake needed to learn and did a fantastic job of showing that, of letting the chars grow and change. Jake didn't get growth, didn't get change, didn't learn to treat Gia as a friend and a person who's disinterest should be acknowledge and honored. Instead the show went 'haha' Gia doesn't like him but he likes her isn't it funny? It's not funny. It's not romantic.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 01:18 pm (UTC)(link)After looking it up, I think I watched Mighty Morphin Power Rangers when I was a kid. Remember almost nothing except that I really liked the Yellow Ranger.
Thank you as well!

I know I might get yelled at for this but...
*dons flame suit for the next part as I know I'm going to get roasted* I don't mind the fandom/fanon version of both pairings (where the 'unfortunate implications' are worked on in the case of Jake/Gia), the canon one I have mixed feelings on.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-17 01:49 pm (UTC)(link)No roasting from me. TBH, I kind of feel this way about Martha/Ten fics from Doctor Who due to how he treated her in S3. I rarely read fics with the pairing, but give me one that manages to resolve many the issues that lay between them during/after S3, and I'm on board with it. But one that doesn't at least address the fact that Ten was a major douchebag to Martha? No I can't read that.
