All I've been thinking about is YuGiOh and Merlin. I guess if any one has anything they want to talk about with regards to those, I'm game. (Note: only on s4 of the 4kids dub of yugioh.)

Merlin was OK for what it was, which was essentially a tween show that then became popular with the migratory slash fandom (unfortunately). The show played fast and loose with history, Arthurian legend, and period accuracy. It became much more loosely plotted and paint-by-numbers melodramatic towards the end (as most British shows tend to) but overall, eeeeh. It was OK. The only real revulsion I had for the fandom was when I stumbled across a tinhat's Merlin RPS blog on Tumblr. Blech.

The RPS in the fandom weirdos me out, but the fandom is okay overall. I liked the show waaaaaay more than I thought I would. It took me about 8 episodes to get into the show, but the first time I started really loving the show was during that two-parter where Uther was going to marry the troll. That was where I was like, "Okay, this shit is off the rails and it's glorious." I was watching fan vids on Saturday and I was reminded of how fun and heartbreaking Merlin was. We had our good times, but, man, were our bad times awful sad. I love the fic for the show though, because a lot of them are "fix-it" fics and are so satisfying. Forever crying over Merlin not telling Arthur sooner.

Whereas I like the "fix-it" fics that bring the characters more in line with actual Arthurian legend. :-) I think they overstepped just slightly when they went from funny/comedy of errors (frex the goblin taking over Gaius) to grimdark (Gwen in a pit with screaming mandrakes turns into Manchurian Princess for what seemed like a billion episodes). OK I think they kiiiiiind of failed (they should have stuck with the funny, or made the grimdark bits a little more funny/OTT IMO). I really balked at that Stargate alien/reptilian grey/whatever it was that showed up near the end, but maybe I might give it another chance. It was long overdue for them to wrap the show up, by the time they did IMO.

There was a good fic I read (can't find it now) where the four main characters (Arthur, Merlin, Gwen, Morgana) reincarnate every generation or so, and they find each other (sometimes), and have to remember who they really are, each time. The fic takes place when they find each other again in the modern day. Completely the opposite of what I usually like/read/go for, but it was actually quite good.

Agreed, but I still thought it was a lot of fun.

I'm always up for talking about YGO. But I liked it unironically. (I mean I liked the dumb shit too, TAS and the memes and terrible dubs, but I actually also genuinely liked the story and show, which tends to be a less popular approach)

I like it totally unironically. It's really fun and like the characters and I like how dark the story actually is. I dunno. It's 2 am and I'm finishing up the 4th season aswe speak. (This season is fucking crazy; I love it.)

Oh man, I loved that season. I mean. I loved all the seasons. I think some people think Season 4 was silly but not me.

I was so excited when they made The Seal of Orichalcos an actual card. Too bad it turned out to be kind of a shitty card :/

I also love the Orichalcos theme :3
