Re: Fandom grudges thread

There's an author in my fandom who is a BNF. She writes hundreds of stories that are all less than a 1,000 words each and are bland as fuck. It's literally the same fluffy formula over and over again. Even when she pulls out the common tropes like Aliens Made Them Do It, there's still no character development whatsoever. It happens. People have one conversation. Everything's okay again.

Yet she gets hundreds of kudos every time. I hate her SO MUCH.

Something I've learned is that sometimes I just want to read about two characters cuddling and liking each other, and once I get to that point I usually don't really give a shit about quality

(insert that one cutesy shrug emoticon here)

There's not enough character in them to even be the characters though. They're just two people with the characters names slapped on.

I'll read it if it's just bland and it's not OOC. An author has the same OTP and it's fluffy, what's not to like?

But vent away. Esp if you write in the same fandom, I can see how it could be annoying.

My OTP are dark as fuck. This is how the AO3 page goes for my OTP:

Insipid title 1 by hated author

Character 1 loses his gloves and needs his hands warming

Word length: 300 words

Insipid title 2 by hated author

Going to bed, Character 2 makes Character 1 hot chocolate.

Word length: 150 words

and so on, and so on, for like 20 stories every damn day.

Aww.
Can't that author combine it into a drabble collection.

See that I wouldn't mind. At least she wouldn't be spamming the place with her incessant fluffy shit.

It seems like there is at least one in every fandom.

And it isn't that the stories are badly written or anything, they are just boring. And apparently, a bunch of people like that, I guess. There's been an author like that in my fandom too - sometimes like 3 or 4 stories a day of just blah fics about nothing in particular.

AYRT It's the same in my fandom, anon. This person's fics are not badly written either, just boring, boring, boring. There's absolutely nothing to them, even when she brings out the big guns like noncon or AMTDI. Just... no character development or insight at all. RAH
