Labyrinth!

Inspired by yesterday's awesome secret, which reminded me I should watch that movie again even if it's just to admire David Bowie's um... greatness.

I love Labyrinth. What's your favorite part/character? I love the Goblin King and I love the dance sequence. I'd love to see a sequel where Sarah's all grown up.

Favourite character is David Bowie's penis.

My favorite part is despite Jareth's sinister attraction, Sarah remembers that she's there for her brother and doesn't let the SA distract her (for long).

Fanfic. Grown up Sarah and the Goblin King pretty much dominates the fanfic.

It's funny, because when I saw it as a child, I just didn't really notice the crotch - because I wasn't prone to, I guess. I re-watched it maybe a year ago and I was like WTF, those things are a character of their own.

Reminder there's a sequel coming

And I'm so scared they're going to base it off of those shitty animu manga GNs they did for Tokyo Pop. :( Just, ugh, I hated Toby in that one. And it's super creepy that he was crushing on a basically clone of his older sister. Plus Jareth had all his character stripped away and bleh.

Oh me, too.

I'm also really nervous about who they'll cast as Jareth.

I mean, if they get Bowie back, that'd be INCREDIBLE, but I'm not getting my hopes up in that arena.

I'm trying to have faith, but considering what they gave us in the Tokyo Pop sequel... *shudder* All I can do is hope that someone with an actual finger on the fandom pulse is put in charge this time.

I would love for an older Sarah going back to the Labyrinth, only this time, instead of learning about growing up in her own way, she has to relearn how to reconnect with her youth. Jennifer Connelly is at that age where it would fit, I think. And older Jareth would work too. Maybe he's aged so much because he lost power over his kingdom when Sarah defeated him? Ah!

I heard they were talking about a sequel, but that doesn't mean it's going to happen. They've been talking about a sequel for YEARS.

I'm pretty sure JKR was a fan. At one point Jareth calls Hoggle "Hogwart." Sarah gets past one obstacle by solving a logic puzzle, and through another by just walking through an apparently solid wall, a la Platform 9 3/4. The fire creatures play hockey with their detachable parts, including heads. And Sir Didymus was a lot like Sir Cadogan.

It's on Netflix, and I'm so excited to rewatch it. The first time I watched it, I was delirously sick and found most of it hilarious.
