I don't usually like American TV comedies, but the premise sounds really interesting. Does the execution hold up?

Yes. I can't think of any episode that doesn't hit its mark, except the "cops" specials. There is a heap ton of character development in it too. Be prepared to loathe Earl at first, but love him at the end.

You kind of have to be a fan of slapstick and some crude humour, but as long as you're okay with that then this is an amazing show. It's fun and heartwarming.
