"I might see more justification in it if Mike got shot while walking down the street doing nothing"

you might?

Oh please, don't get pedantic. I was using the same speech I'd use if I said "you might get wet if you go out there" when it's raining.

the thing is though, i doubt you would. i think that "might" holds more truth to your feelings than you care to admit. the facts have all been laid out and still you people insist mike brown was a thug just asking for it. no evidence is good enough. see: eric garner. the man was living his life and was choked to death in public. might you see justification for the anger then? or do you just not give a shit, like you do here.

He was bothering people and the police were called. That was a terrible accident that shouldn't have happened. But how could the cops have known he had health issues?

I would be on the protest bandwagon completely if the people being protested about weren't acting in a way that warranted the attention of the police. And don't throw those rape jabs of "but that's saying she shouldn't have worn bluhbluh" no it isn't the same.

I'll say it about the twelve year old who got killed while playing with a toy gun. You don't point anything at cops, period! I won't say he deserved it because he didn't, but he should've known better. Cops are trained to react in a split second.

excuses of a racist, nothing more.

Keep thinking that if it makes you sleep better.

If I was really racist I would be saying they deserved to die. Now go on and assume that's what I said and take the last word, kid.

So easy to say that, isn't it? Cops are always in a heightened sense of awareness, they see something coming up to point at them that looks like a gun, all they see, hear, think is gun. And the cop reacted.

I'm so sorry that child died, I'm so sorry it happened at all, but I won't call a cop racist for shooting when he sees a gun come up and doesn't stop to ask if it's real.

Exactly.

Cop dies in line of duty - Zero fucks given
Cop kills in line of duty - Riots, Accusations of racism, Calls fo the cops job, threats on his family, the whole nine yards.

uh

people have extremely strong reactions whenever a cop gets killed in the line of duty

I dunno where you live, but where I come from if a cop gets killed in the line of duty, the whole country goes into mourning.

Also, we expect our cops not to choose lethal force as the first option when dealing with children and jaywalkers. So there may be a connection.

This controversy, if it's about anything, is about whether or not police in the United States use appropriate tactics, or whether they are too violent, especially towards minorities.

So to say "Well, of course Tamir Rice got shot" or "Of course Eric Garner got choked out" because "that's just what police do" misses the whole point to my mind. The question is whether or not doing something that warrants the attention of the police should immediately mean you should be in fear for your life. The point of whether or not the people involved did things to get the attention of law enforcement completely goes past that. The contention is precisely that police are too violent in their responses, especially involving black people.

The argument is about the behavior of police. What you're saying approaches the idea that they got involved legitimately, and anything after that is impossible to argue about, because once the police are involved, anything they do is right. It's the second part that I disagree with.
