You've pinpointed a great and powerful pet peeve of mine. The idea may be that you'd only be interested in reading about sexual acts if they are perpetrated by people you'd be attracted to in reality. However, written erotica is not a last resort for people who are unable to have sex . People read and write about pairings and sex for a variety of different reasons, and not all of those reasons are to replicate the writers' or readers' ideal sexual situations.

This. Not that that it isn't true for some people, but to claim it's true for EVERYONE is ... well, for one it ignores a lot of data that says otherwise. It's as if people think that not only is biology destiny, but that it is somehow a tyrant that shapes one's personality in only rigid, preset ways.

Sheesh.
