yes, welcome to the bioware fandom, where people are either unreasonably sensitive or unreasonably insensitive

there are a few key issues/characters that really drive wedges in the fandom, especially with anders and cullen, and the mage-templar thing as a whole. most people either hate anders or defend every little thing he did, and the same goes for cullen, despite the fact that both of these characters are pretty decently rounded, show tons of character growth and struggle with their own issues throughout the games. people just see what they want to see, and it usually depends on whether they prefer mages or templars. i would just stay away from the overzealous ones if i were you. generally people who talk about those issues will talk about them incessantly every single day.

eta: this obviously depends on the issue(s) you're referring to because the thing with sera being awful is entirely justified in my opinion. though there is another thing with sera that is frequently discussed and that is her race, her concept art gave her darker skin (and only in some of the sketches) and a lot of fans assume that darker skin = not white so they accused the developers of whitewashing her final appearance in the game, which i don't think is reasonable honestly.

I don't consider it true whitewashing either, but it was a bit of a disappointment to me considering that both Solas and Sera ended up far paler than their concept art made them look like. More brown elves, please. =( I would be a lot less critical of the faux-whitewashing if Sera as a character hadn't been so disappointing too, and I think a lot of Sera's most vocal critics feel the same way to an extent.

i definitely agree, i would have liked if they were less pale too.
