[The Amazing Spider Man]

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
Wait, what? What has happened?

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 12:38 am (UTC)(link)
The Sony leaks happened. Marvel said that keeping Garf was a deal breaker for them, because he's too old for the role as part of a continuing franchise expected to last a decade or more (instead of how Sony sees it, as being a role that gets rebooted after every trilogy). When the leaks went public all the MCU fans, and a large chunk of Spider-fans too TBH, kinda, sorta, pretty much agreed that Garf oughta go. With the Sony leaks having given the chance of a Spider-man/Avengers team up new momentum (thanks be to those hackers, who were not from North Korea no matter what the media tries to claim) it looks like he is probably going to be out of the role. The best he can hope for is his contract is 3 movies, pay or play, and Disney just pays him off.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 12:41 am (UTC)(link)
You don't know where the hackers were from any more than the media does

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 12:46 am (UTC)(link)
I know that every firm involved in Internet Security knows they weren't from NK. I don't need to know where they are from, but the smart money is either China or US homeland, but I know where they are not from. This was done for the lulz, not as part of any cyberwarfare shit.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 05:50 am (UTC)(link)
NAYRT, but North Korea's internet connection comes through China, so if you're pointing the finger at China, it doesn't conclusively mean that it was NOT North Korea.

most signs point to a disgruntled Sony employee or former employee, actually.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 12:45 am (UTC)(link)
You're leaving out the main part where he turned into an unprofessional actor blatantly blowing off his franchise's promoters.

He ended up being a bad choice, so he's getting replaced.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 03:12 am (UTC)(link)
He should be replaced. They booted Edward Norton, they should get rid of this guy too. Tumblr's only Stanning for him because he wants Bi!Spidey.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 11:46 am (UTC)(link)
Actually I've seen more tumblr hate for him for the sexism thing.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 12:47 am (UTC)(link)
AYRT

Man those Sony leaks seem to be far bigger than what I originally thought when I heard of them.

Thanks for taking the time to clue me in.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
Basically if it was on Sony's internal network, then it is now in the public domain. Everything. Scripts, emails, contract negotiations, staff pay grades, staff disciplinary records, every-fucking-thing Sony ever committed to cursor. People will still be digging through the documents and finding new stuff in them this time 2015.

The leak thing being attributed to NK about that stupid movie of theirs has been a godsend for Sony. Really taken the heat off all the really juicy stuff.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-27 07:40 pm (UTC)(link)
Basically ala Winter Soldier, only replace SHIELD's secrets being online for Sony's.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 12:33 am (UTC)(link)
he was a poor Peter for the same reason it was a poor adaptation, Parker really isn't anywhere near that cool. That is part of the key to the character. Parker has only two components, the death of his uncle and the freedom of the mask to let him act all cool like isn't without it. Even the 3rd Maguire movie managed it better.

I hope the next Spidey-franchise movie is really Spider-Gwen so they have a lot less source material to screw up. I'm just heartbroken we'll never get it because all female-centric Super movies are going to be depending on DC not screwing up Wonder Woman in order to get greenlit. And we know WW is going to suck, the only question is just how god awful bad it sucks.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 02:34 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Peter Parker, what a horrible nerd. It's not like girls like MJ and Gwen would go for him. e_e [/sarcasm]

Have you even read the Romita stuff?

SA

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 02:35 am (UTC)(link)
Romita SENIOR, I mean?

[personal profile] ex_mek82 2014-12-26 01:14 am (UTC)(link)
Honestly, even though I only saw ASM1, I didn't think Garfield was *that* bad of a Peter Parker. But, much like how Ryan Reynolds would have worked better as Kyle Rayner instead of Hal Jorgan, I think he probably would have served better as an adult Peter (i.e. graduate from college, working for the Daily Bugle), I dunno.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 01:29 am (UTC)(link)
I had no idea people thought Garfield was bad. I thought he was amazing and nearly perfect as Parker. Maybe a little less nerdy in his "real life" but much better at being Parker's Spiderman. And Toby Maguire was so damn terrible, and after the nightmare of the third movie, ughhh. Sad, I liked him.

Didn't like Gwen Stacey though. Or rather, I have nothing against the actress but she looked like a late twenty-something year old playing a supposed 17 year old, not even close.

I loved both of them, actually. Also had no idea people hated Garfield that much.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 06:04 am (UTC)(link)
I know, I thought he was a big fan favorite. I'm surprised.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I liked Garfield's Spiderman too. It was like a live action adaptation of the character from the animated series Spectacular Spiderman, which I loved.

I KNOW RIGHT. I was heartbroken after that got canceled and spent most of the screening of TASM I saw crying quietly because it reminded me so much of it. (Don't worry, the theater was basically empty so I wasn't being disruptive.)

Granted, I hated the second one, but the first one made me happy.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 02:10 am (UTC)(link)
I had no idea people hated him. I thought he was awesome & I'd be sad to see him go.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-26 10:11 am (UTC)(link)
I'm sad about this. I really enjoyed Garfield, sooooooooo much more than Tobey
Maguire. I mean, I know those aren't the only two choices, and maybe the next Peter will be better yet, but still. Sad. :(
