imo Vocaloid music is far more "real" than a lot of other music.

Practically all Vocaloid music is made from independent musicians and initially all producers become popular due to word of mouth with zero advertisement and no record labels backing them. New, completely unknown producers have beaten out BNF producers with fancy PVs for the top spot on the nicovideo song rankings.

There's far more "indie music" cred that should be associated with Vocaloid music as opposed to the musicians that hipsters usually love like Lana Del Ray or banjo crooner dude #439.
