I stopped watching after the superheroes episode and have no intention to come back. The magic is gone.

Really? I just stopped watching partway through S3 because it was just significantly not as good as the first two seasons to me. Maybe I'll check out S4 if people are saying it's better than 3 - I may or may not like it, but it may be worth a shot.

If you thought Season 3 wasn't as good as the previous two, you'll probably feel the same way or more so about Season 4. I give them credit for trying new things in this season, but I always got the sense they didn't quite know what they were doing, either with the plot or with characterization.

But that's my two cents and my opinion. Maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised, who knows.

I may be behind the times with this, but I always thought that they lost it after Lauren Faust left completely. It seemed to me that she was the driving force behind the magic.

OP again

I agree.

aw, well, maybe not then. Maybe there are some people who liked the way S3 was going and just wanted more?

Personally, I thought 1 and 2 were both really good almost uniformly, and it dropped off sharply in S3. :/

Actually, the reactions to this season have been kind of mixed. I've seen quite a few people say the show's been bad since Season Three. I've been pretty impressed with the direction it's taken, though thinking back Season 4 did have its fair share of problems.

I think for me, the things that were done right outshone its shortcomings. I definitely wouldn't call it the best season, but it wasn't the worst either.

I really enjoy the series over all (including the movies) so I have a difficult time thinking about the show in seasons. I really don't like some episodes, though.

I love season 3/4. Because they're so blatantly written for the show's true demographic, little girls. It pisses off the adult male audience so much. I remember at the end of season four, guys said they 'started crying' when they had rainbow powers. So much gnashing of teeth about the show being "so girly".

Oh, you mean the show about magically talking colored ponies is actually a show aimed at young girls and not a show about sexualized magically talking colored ponies who do all those manly man things you like to do, like play shooters and drink mountain dew? Heaven forbid!

I think the first two seasons were definitely written to appeal to little girls though

I'm really disliking how the newer seasons are catering to Discord's fanbase, especially when it comes to the episode Keep Calm and Flutter On, which seems to preach the disgusting idea that if your friend's friend is an asshole you're not allowed to call them out on it because your friend is the neutral bridge between you.

Or in Twilight's Kingdom when he sells everyone out and is pretty much welcomed back shortly after.

Just. Fuck Discord.

You must have watched a different episode than most of us did or are projecting like whoa. The whole point of the episode is that Fluttershy DID call him on shit. Did you even watch it?

I stopped watching sometime round season 3, no particular reason other than that I had a lot of TV to watch and it was the first thing I cut out that year. I want to catch up with it though because I did like it.

Season 4 was pretty good in my opinion. LOVED the individual episodes that got the characters they're rainbow power ups, even though they didn't know it.

My only gripe was I wish they ALL fought in the final battle and not just Twilight.

Been loving Discord, too.

I'm glad they are moving away from slice of life and to the magical girl show I thought I was originally getting.

I still like the show but I HATED My Little Anorexic Hooker, I mean Equestria Girls.

My 7 year old likes it as much as she always did. I liked the episode where Pinkie was a member of the Apple family.
