(Anonymous) 2014-12-28 12:16 am (UTC)(link)Agreed. My pro-published work typically goes through at least three sets of editors -- the main content edit, and at least a couple of rounds of proofing/copyediting once that's complete.
OP's friend sounds like they're offering the final stage without the previous foundations. If that's what people want, and if they're aware of what they're getting then that's fine, but I'd hesitate to call it 'editing'.
