(Anonymous) 2014-12-28 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)I know I've felt that way sometimes, too, especially when the gush goes to write-by-number fics that do little more than press the right fandom buttons.
But there are plenty of other fic writers in the same boat. I try to seek out well written but ignored fics and leave some appreciative feedback. IMO it's up to the readers/writers who prefer nichefic to support each other.

(Anonymous) 2014-12-28 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah, like I said I feel frustration for other good fic that falls by the wayside thanks to terrible yet popular fics. I take it as an irrational offence towards all the better fic, I suppose. That's not to say I don't take it personally too, but maybe not to the extent OP does. It's not even that I want my fics to be the juggernaut fandom fics -don't deal well with that sort of pressure- just that I'd like a fic that didn't suck balls (and a writer who wasn't a massive douchebag) to be getting that kind of attention instead.
Unfortunately once that juggernaut has been set in motion, however much you rec and push other fic, no-one's listening so they remain niche.
