I think that's kind of misreading what she said before the release, and kind of unfair in terms of how it ignores the difference with how these things are treated on 1989.

Well that's how you tell if they're really your favorite songs, isn't it? If they can maintain that emotional connection over a long time. You have to at least give them that chance.

Well the good thing about the TF universe is that it's spread over multiple forms of media, and has many different continuities you can choose from, and that you don't need to know what's going on in X comic subseries to know what's happening in Y season of the latest cartoon. You're not obligated to like it all.

FWIW, I haven't read that particular comic series either--actually, the only TF comic I've read is Reign of Starscream--and I haven't even gone on the wiki to see what it's about. I have absolutely no idea what's going on in them and that lack has zero bearing on my enjoyment of the parts of the fandom I prefer.
