What show do you watch on the account of people styled exceptionally well? I admit when I'm done laughing at the jokes on Last Week Tonight I rewatch it so I can stare at John Oliver's hair. It looks way better than during his time on The Daily Show, kind of foxy, even.

I finished my 52 week money challenge for 2014! And I am pretty damn proud of it.

Dealing with fandom loneliness?

So I have a pretty close fandom friend. We both consider the same small fandom "home" but there's not a lot of new stuff coming out for it so we both got into different stuff on the side (also small fandoms, usually semi-related to the original one). After a year or so of being in mostly separate fandoms, we both got into the same show and the same (canonically doomed, tragic) ship and we talked about it all the time and came up with tons of meta and discussed fic ideas and it was pretty awesome. Then out of nowhere she got really into a huge fandom and now that's all she talks about.

So now I'm here in this comparatively tiny fandom with a stupid OTP that a) breaks my heart more with each new episode and b) I am now the only active shipper of. A lot of my other fandom friends enjoy the show and will even read my fic or whatever, but they're often behind on the canon and they aren't interested in discussing it much. I don't want to be passive-aggressive and I don't want to confront anyone directly about it, but ngl, it does kinda upset me and I'm pretty lonely.

Anyone have any advice for how to deal with fandom loneliness? How to let it go and get over myself? How to steal back my friend/get other people more interested in it?

When the story goes in the wrong direction...

Surprising people who can pick up on storytelling cues can be difficult, but have you ever felt like a writer took a story in a completely WRONG direction? Not because you dislike it or disagreed with it, but because all the storytelling so far pointed you to the complete opposite conclusion and the conclusion the writer came to made no sense.

Just thinking about this as I watched the Doctor Who Christmas Special for the year (SPOILERS.......) since all the storytelling cues were telling us something was up with Clara, so the her being old ending made a whole lot of sense and the "second chance" ending didn't. I like Clara and want her to stay, and I understand this might have been a script change back from when she was rumored to be leaving, but I have trouble with the episode now because the conclusion doesn't work for me.

does anybody use wattpad? i did for awhile two years ago but they changed some things and i don't really like it now. the formatting is broken for me. i signed up for litlift but the formatting there is ornery too.

so my question is, has anybody found something similar that is reasonably popular and with minimal fuss? i need to be able to center (or add breaks) and italicize.

I realized tonight that I don't feel insulted if someone says I'm unethical, immoral, or potentially not a good person, but most people do. It's really insulting to most people. But my response is, "well, am I unethical, immoral, or not a good person?" And then, "why does this person think that about me? Does it make sense when I try to see things from their POV?"

It's weird to me that this is how I react but it's not how most people react. I guess I want to ask how people feel when they're told those things. Why is it so upsetting?
