I seem to remember seeing something about it, but I went back and couldn't find it.

There was something in the venting thread yesterday but not in depth.

SPN tumblr fandom is why I only dip my toes in for gifs. They are BATSHIT.

Did anyone actually commit suicide or are people still falling for pseucides in this the year 2014?

There were several accounts claiming suicide which now are claiming to have been hacked. It's unclear whether this was part of the actual attack by 4chan/wherever or whether these were pseuds. It's all so confusing.

My guess is pseucide. Claiming some random teen who no one knew existed/has no interest history anymore because her child brother 'got rid of it' by 'contacting websites' got Korrasami to happen. (I'm sure from her point of view) Why not try it on Destiel?

People are STILL falling for it.

The supposed victim's friend earlier said she had ingested sleeping pills, so what's this 'inner puncture wound' story? Also HOW DO PILL GET IN DA BLOOD?!

It's absolutely hilarious and I don't care if I look like an ass for saying that. I have absolutely no pity for people who fake self harm/suicide for attention, and that's what seems to be the root of this whole debacle.

As part of the fandom but not caught up in the general hysteria, I wouldn't be too surprised if at least some of the anon hate is real, or if a few people have been/will be driven to actual self-harm by the frenzy (not the high-profile, obviously fake cases. I'm cpncerned that we may not even hear of any real incidents until well after the dust settles.) All it takes to set off a contagious panic is one person faking it convincingly enough to fool a handful of others, and a lot of these kids are unfortunately very susceptible to that sort of thing.

Having said that, a lot of them must also be either dumb as a box of rocks or just plain lying if they haven't disabled the goddamn anonymous ask feature by now. That was the FIRST thing everyone should have done when the whole thing got started.

OTOH, I will say, gullible or not, a very large number of people across various fandoms are trying hard to be helpful and kind, and that's not necessarily a bad thing.
