I wasn't talking about anime - I mentioned Disney's Snow White specifically as an example.

Which only shows that the criticism applies equally to both styles.

how is that something to criticize? it's a very obvious stylization that isn't meant to look realistic. most cartoons are stylized to some degree in different ways. you may not like it, but that doesn't make it objectively bad.
