As the previous response to your comment said, I don't the OP has NPD. A desire to be the best in one area or even a belief that one is the best in a specific area does not translate to a pathological lack of empathy or remorse. Attention whoring is a characteristic of NPD, but one narcissistic trait does not a narcissist make.
