Whrn people make fun of young artists who are just starting out.

God this. (also brutally mocking and sporking young writers just starting out)

Honestly it feels like people just like to be mean and mock people and then use "but tough love" or whatever as am excuse. I wish people realized that you can be honest and kind at the same time. And with younger more sensitive artists/writers being kind and tactful will get them to listen to you more than mocking them will.

Especially when they agree with/reblog popular posts that say making fun of beginners' art is cruel, everyone was just starting out once, etc.-- then turn around and do exactly that a few days later because this one kid's piece of art is just SO FUNNY or CUTE through its ineptness or some shit.

I'm actually not bothered by people who mock others' artwork and make no pretense about being fair or nice, but when someone's hypocritical about it, it's a pretty good warning sign not to trust them too much.

+1

And when the artist is just casual. If you want to take your art seriously, then laborious practice is great and the best way to improve. But if someone just wants to doodle fanart on some scratch paper when they have some free time, that's fine too.

Yeah, this. It's worse when it's disguised as a community for legitimate critique when really it's just a bunch of chucklefucks sitting around circle-jerking about how their 1000 chapter fandom epics are so amazing and everyone else who is just starting out is the worst.

Yeah this.

35 year old working in a professional environment and making horrible mistakes? Snark away!
Some 14 year old kid doing a self insert comic? Jesus they're learning they're not meant to be 'good' let them practice :(

and if you do find something particularly bad, have a joke about it with your friends in a chat or something. for god's sake don't publish it.
