Honestly, Moffat sometimes just because he gets so much hate and his era is my favorite (Eleven was my favorite Doctor, now Eleven and Twelve are equally my favorites). As a feminist, I do see his problems with gender, but I also see similar problems in other Who eras. And I love his overarching plots, the wonder of his stuff, and his interpretation of the Doctor. And people are perfectly allowed to hate, but it is just so much and everywhere where there is any Doctor Who discussion and stated as fact rather than opinion that I get defensive.

It's only sort of borderline "fandom" related, but... anti-Stratfordians. I just can't with their idiotic theories. I will freely grant that the plays are probably more collaborative (mostly with the men in his company) than is definitively known, but William Shakespeare the Stratford Man wrote Shakespeare's plays.

Humorous in-universe racism, taking the POV of one race within a fantasy or sci-fi setting to make insulting statements about another such race. I get that it's supposed to be funny how it parallels real-life racism, but it tends to sound so similar that it's not really funny at all.

(Have I mentioned before that there are people in the MLP fandom who refer to zebras as "ziggers"? My eyebrows damn near shot off my face.)

People asserting things that are contentious or complicated or even just wrong in a way as though they're just simple matters of fact. In particular: "Tolkien was just a racist! Lotr was just about ww2! Machiavelli's Prince was a satire!"

People who shit on comic book readers when they say, "I don't need to read the comics to be as big as a fan as such and such comic geek."

Yes, you do. If you claim to be AS BIG AS A FAN as the comic book reader but don't do the same amount of work as the comic book reader then you are not on the same level.

Yes, you are a fan but you not in as deep.

I'm tired of so many people shitting on comic book readers. There's still a stigma about them. It still feels like whole jock vs. nerd thing. Like the jock wants to be like the nerd because being a little nerdy is cool now but not too much that it would "stain" their jock cred.

I don't so much get angry about this. Angry implies a level of caring about this topic, but I am deathly bored of hearing people espouse similar viewpoints.

Uninformed people bleating about supposed misogyny (or misandry) in the video games I enjoy pretty much makes me sigh and stop taking their opinion seriously.

Look, you can make some solid arguments about jingoism, xenophobia, and that sort of thing... because to be frank a lot of the media I consume is literally about killing thousands of same-faced foreigners. You can't tell me that because there are only a few girls around (and they're portrayed as equally capable, autonomous beings with the same likelihood of dying or being captured as their male counterparts) that suddenly there's some sexism going on. Or that because 90% of the enemy fodder has a male skin that the game is trying to tell you that men are expendable.

It's kind of just reflecting reality. You can make arguments as to whether or not it should be reflecting reality - whether or not there's a responsibility for a narrative to strive for progressivity if it's thematically consistent - but it's almost never about that. Most of the time the people making the arguments haven't even played the games and don't actually know what happens in the story or what the conclusion or themes actually were. They just looked at the box and started parroting.

It's okay for people in fandom to want validation. Everyone is looking for it in one place or another. It's part of being a social creature. If you don't feel like giving it to them, then ignore them and let them get it from other people instead of ranting about how pathetic they are.

Canon shippers = bad elitists.

I do take exception to calling yourself a canon shipper if a pairing isn't canon yet (I say that having done so myself in the Harry Potter fandom), but seriously, not all of us are slash-hating (what if one of the canon pairings we like is a homosexual pairing?) ass-kissing elitists. For me, the reason I love fanfic is because I like to speculate and work within what we already know. So it makes sense to me that I would ship canon pairings, or pairings that are most likely to be canon at some point. I know not everyone thinks that way, and that's fine. I don't judge you, please don't judge me.

(And yes, I realize not all canon shippers/so-called canon shippers have been so civil. But some of us really do just like canon ships.)

NO. No. As a hardcore gamer and hardcore Let's Play fan. No. They are not even comparable. LPs, even great ones, are like movie trailers. Maybe you'll get the major story beats from a Let's Play and see all the major cutscenes, but game worlds are fucking huge and the interactivity is part of the experience and the story in the same way music or level design are.

That Snape was the worst teacher in the history of Hogwarts and that all of his non-Slytherin students are walking PTSD cases (see: Neville's boggart). Also, that we KNOW he's beyond redemption because he called Lily a mudblood. That he was objectively being humiliated at the time has absolutely no bearing on the situation, nor does the fact that he was 16 years old. If one screws up beyond the age of 11, one is quite obviously worthless.
