This makes me think of the Fate/Stay Night interactive game-comic-show-thingy that I only got partway through because it would have taken too long to get to a save point...anyway, I think there are a number of things like that in the animanga world? You definitely have an element of choose-your-own-adventure; there are actually several paths you can take with F/SN and different endings, but you don't do any gamey stuff other than making those choices, you just read/listen/look at pictures.
