Re: Learning languages for fandom

Started learning Japanese about a year ago because my main anime fandom right now has a crapton of side materials and I realized how much it kinda sucks having to desperately hope someone comes along and translates them. That and so I could actually read all the doujinshi I buy. I'm not quite confident enough in my skills to try and translate anything for public consumption yet, but I've reached the "can get a pretty good idea of what's going on in a manga by reading the raws" stage, so I'm happy. (My goal is to someday be able to manage a light novel, at the very least.)
