I was just offering up one of the possible things that the secret poster could be referring to in the matter of what is "really" involved in actual gay sex. It was a suggestion or possibility, not a correction or final statement. I had thought that perhaps she meant that real slash writers wouldn't like it if they knew how unclean and messy it really was, if they really watched two regular men have sex, not sterile images in yaoi or in print fiction. That was all that I was saying. So, don't get upset, please. I didn't mean to offend you.

Actually, you and maybe one other person were the only ones who did it. A couple people actually agree with me. This is fandon secrets. Don't take it so seriously. It's not the end of the world if some people don't share your hobby.

What makes you think I'm taking it seriously? It's fandom_secrets and Im engaging you in a mild discussion.

My original comment on the secret was simply that the mechanics are not that difficult to understand. I subsequently pointed out that the issues you're discussing are not unique to either homosexual porn or homosexual sex. That's all.

Dear, I realize all this. I've RPed it. I've written it. I've had discussions about it. I've actually had it. I am more than aware this is not limited guy on guy action considering I'm a girl, but it's my experience that while the mechanics of penis in the ass are easy to understand, many writers have no idea of exactly what is involved in anal sex. It's not just two androgynous looking men have great sex. It's sweaty and sometimes messy with some slightly embarrassing factors thrown in the mix. Yes, many stories consist of fantasy, but as someone who is aware of reality, I can't help but laugh sometimes.

But hey. If you have fun writing it, more power to you and I encourage you to keep having fun. I'll just keep my snickering to myself.

Erh. I was responding to the secret-- which was a few words photoshopped on a picture. So I was responding to the few words that you provided by pointing out that the secret is vague.

It is fandom_secrets after all. All I know about you is the secret.

(And to run the risk of TMI, I've had that kind of sex. Just because I don't want to write about the douches beforehand, etc etc, doesn't mean I don't know about it, just that I don't think that part is as sexy-- there are plenty of non-sexy things about heterosexual intercourse that het writers skip over too. I don't assume they don't know about it, I assume they don't think it's as interesting.)

Secrets in this forum normally are vague. Plus, I hate it when people cram a novel onto a 500x500, requiring me to break out ye old magnifying to read them.

That being said, I'm done here. It was amusing at first, but now my attention has gone on to bigger and more interesting things. Call me stupid or something, but you'll never see my point and I'll never see whatever one you have. You may know these things, but I'd be willing to bet money quite a few of them don't. I'm so sorry I marginalized/simplified things just like everyone else here.

You see, the reality of sex in which a penis (or dildo, or butt plug) is inserted into the anal cavity is that it requires lube and a condom, because you do not want fecal matter on your penis. Much more, the tissue is so very sensative that, should you just shove a penis in there without proper lubrication? you're causing more harm to the reciever than you imagine.

Which is the point here. Yaoi and most slash writers fail to realise this. You can say it's because the "romance" of it all, but I've seem some pure porn-driven stories that leave this out. Lupin coming up to Sirius in the shower and just ramming his cock in? Sorry. Unless there is ~~magical~~ lube on dicks in writen fiction, that 90% of readers probably aren't aware of, the logistics are really off.

That was the point here.

So the assumption then becomes, "Oh, they're not using any? ...um..." and quite frankly, I'd prefer to read how Harry protected his penis when he shoved it into Ron's ass and didn't get some foreign disease than to read how he just rammed it in and then, well. No complications. As slash writers, we need to be more reponsible for the wellfare of our characters penises, am I right or am I right?

Erh. You do realize that anal sex is enjoyed by couples of all orientations and thus many writers do, in fact, know how it works? As other people ave noted, a lot of writers simplify it because they're writing fantasy sex, the same way many writers of heterosexual porn do that same thing. There is a large range of reality in all orientations of porn.
