I think that to actually get it white you need something slightly purple or blue. To counter the yellows and reds in your hair.

The manic panic stuff seems purple, so it could be that she's right.

However! I have not bleached myself, I just researched it, so if someone who actually has bleached tells you something else trust them more.

Thanks! I wonder how the purple works, that just seems weird to me, but I'm not an artist/color person, lol. |D

One of my aunts has white hair (because of aging) and she uses some sort of purple shampoo to keep her hair from going ugly yellow-white...not sure why it works, but it does as she has lovely hair.

Purple is the complimentary color for yellow, which means it basically cancels it out. It's like how in makeup, you'll see green colored concealers meant for red blemishes, or peachy/orange ones for bluish under-eye circles. Green/red are complimentary colors, and so are orange/blue, like yellow/purple are.
