I'm a pessimist and tbh I doubt Bryke would have felt safe enough to throw it in last minute if Korrasami wasn't the juggernaut ship in fandom. They pretty much pulled a JK Rowling.

I can't blame anyone for never believing it was going to happen, or even never seeing any of the supposed subtext. Plenty of (not straight) women have criticized the way Korrasami was handled even if they're happy it's canon. Makorra fans are just loudly throwing their tantrums and don't want to acknowledge that Makorra was so bad that the show tanked the ship the rest of the series.

Korrasami had the opposite problem of Makorra. Instead of hitting you in the face with it, it was barely there at all until the last second, and even then it could be argued there was nothing romantic if Bryke hadn't declared it canon.

da

What ship(s) did Rowling put in HP because they were overwhelmingly popular?

I don't get it either. Harry/Ginny and Ron/Hermione were set up pretty early in the series and the others got married to random people unless there's someone I'm forgetting atm

I think AYRT was referring to the way Rowling revealed that Dumbledore was gay only after the series ended.

tbh I never really understood the outrage over that either. It seemed pretty obvious that Dumbledore was crushing on Grindelwald

While I was never outraged, I absolutely see why people would be annoyed that it wasn't straight up acknowledged in the canon. Just because you saw the subtext doesn't mean everyone else did, especially people who need the representation. Jk Rowling saying it was totally canon years later doesn't cut it. Neither does Bryke throwing in a subtle Korrasami scene at literally the very end and claiming it was there all along and it's not their fault if you didn't see it.

I don't wear slash goggles at all. However, the Grindelwald/Dumbledore thing was heavily, HEAVILY implied. Dumbledore was practically writing love ballads to the guy.
