Not trying to start anything, but seriously. American food has to be at least part of the reason why obesity is such an issue. I don't know whether it's the ingredients or the portion sizes, but everytime I go to America the weight starts piling on.

That's absolutely true but it doesn't really go to the point at hand

No I guess not, sorry. Just thinking aloud in a way.

Really, I don't know what to say. Encouraging people to be healthy is good but fat shaming is counter productive. Besides, it's not really the place of some random person on the internet to tell someone else what to do with their body <-- that goes for both sides of the argument.

Everything you said here.

Both, tbh.

It's a little messed up, because it normalizes overeating and eating bad food for an entire nation. :/

It's the portion sizes. I used to work for the US branch of a Japanese company, and every time officials from the Japanese side would come over here, they would be horrified at how huge are portions are. We eat way too much here in America.

Honestly? It's because most of our food isn't actually filling. I eat huge portion sizes because I'm hungry. If I eat only small portion sizes, then I'm eating again in half an hour.

What the heck are you eating, nothing but vegetables or something?

That may be true for you, but several people from my home country who've visited yours noted that your medium McDonald's portions equals our large ones. And also? The larger portions were true for restaurants and non-fast food places as well.

No, you've created a self-perpetuating cycle for yourself. The larger the portions you eat a regular basis are, the more food you need to feel full because you've trained your body to expect (and therefore want) large amounts of food. I guarantee that if you cut back portion sizes and stick to it, you'll end up being satisfied with smaller amounts of food after a while.
