the Redwall fandom.

It was a little bit of both to be honest.

I remember reading Redwall forums as a kid!

Seeing it dry up was kind of sad. The old people kind of grew out of it. And then the author died.

I have never been so broken up over a famous person's death than that, with the exception of Roger Ebert. These two were my inspirations :(

Now I feel like rereading some of his books. I was going through my stuff and found the second "Castaways of the Fliying Dutchman" book (I don't know if anyone else read those...) and a few Redwall books. I can't find the one that I want to reread the most, though!

I didn't like the Castaways series all that much :/ I never did read the third one.

I somehow completely missed the Redwall fandom, and I would have been all over that in my early internet days. (My first fanfic was a blatant self-insert "I'm an otter now wtf??" Redwall fic written with the determination that it WOULDN'T BE LIKE THOSE OTHER TERRIBLE SELF-INSERTS. [it was, of course, but it stayed decently entombed in notebooks]) I think it's because most of my fandom connections spiraled out from either the Pit or lj, so if it wasn't on there I didn't see it.

Still reread those books occasionally. They're not good for bingeing as they run together, but I love them. What's your fave, do you remember? I like Mossflower (Martin my ultimate mouse crush), The Long Patrol (epic battle scenes precious), and Mariel (cause she's a BADASS).

My favorite is The Rogue Crew [which dethroned my favorite since I was a child, Lord Brocktree], (also, which I held off reading for a year because it came out right after he died) and it was finally something distinguishable from the previous seven books. It was like the first three or four......and we'll never get that again. And it kills me that we won't.
