Re: Fandoms you miss

I've recently really been missing M*A*S*H fandom. It was amazingly active and high quality for such an old non-sci-fi fandom.

I can't remember if the fic was genuinely amazing, or if it just seemed amazing to me because I was 14-15 years old and had barely discovered fanfic when I got into the fandom, but I remember being so deeply emotionally affected by it, and I still have an impression that's basically -- you know all those angst tropes that you like as a guilty pleasure but can't take seriously because it's so unrealistic? Suicide, self-harm, extreme depression, huge nervous breakdowns, and extreme death and gore and tragedy and danger all the time, everywhere, with convenient excuses for the characters to be caught up in the middle of it? It was all CANON in M*A*S*H fandom.
