Same. That's a problem that plagues a lot of movies/TV shows/etc., though. My other big pet peeve is a cousin of that, wherein characters are always shown spending things like Christmases or birthdays with their "found family" group of friends or their bf/gf instead of their families, which bugs me because it implies that if you don't outgrow your family and form your own with your friends or an SO, you'll eventually end up alone. Which, I mean, it's true, in a way, but I don't like being reminded of something I can't control.

Eh, I have the opposite. I actually love "found family" Christmases, even though I traditionally spend them with m parents. But, m parents won't be around forever and I sort of like the idea of spending Christmas with a "found family" in the future.

Exactly, that's my problem with it (I guess it's a petty one). I don't have a "found family" or even marginally close friends with whom I could spend a Christmas if my parents weren't around. I know they won't be around forever, and the fact that I'll have no one left when that happens has been a constant source of anxiety for a while, so I guess I just resent when TV, my usual escape, keeps hammering home how much of a loser I am for not having been able to find what all those characters have.

/cool story bro and all that

But, you can control it.
