t’s been awhile since I hosted one of these things! I’m kicking off 2015 with 80’s animated fantasy goodness.

First up, the classic tale of a D&D nerd who gets sucked into Fantasyland and battles wizard!Darth Vader. (I’m not kidding, James Earl Jones is the VA of the main villain.)

Next, one of the most underrated animated films of all time. A kickass unicorn searches the globe for her lost unicorn sisters, wrestling with harpies and demon bulls and romantic feelings along the way. Features the voice talents of both Angela Lansbury and Christopher Lee.

From there, sit back and experience the full plot of Peter Jackson’s 9 hour Hobbit trilogy in less than 90 minutes. ~~That’s right. I went there.~~

They're pretty short so depending on the time and if anyone is still around after that, I’ll show Rankin-Bass’s Return of the King as well (and if not, at least Where There’s a Whip and Eowyn’s defeat of the Witch King) and Lord of the G-Strings.

Starts at 6pm EST this Saturday!

The thing with three tits was weird, the wizard was kind of a goofball, the scene with the talking butterfly creature was long and boring, and the plot was rambling.

Schmendrick is awesome, especially if you know his backstory. The book is really good, and Schmendrick has a bit more personality in that. (He's kind of catty towards Molly, because he's jealous that the Unicorn likes her. He ends up caring about her at the end though, and they travel together for the rest of their lives)

I am kinda glad to know I'm not the only one who wasn't into The Last Unicorn. I feel like I'm missing something since everyone else I know really really enjoyed it.

Eh, it's not my favorite story overall, either. I think parts of it are well-done, but I'm kind of meh about the themes.

It doesn't help that unicorns are a hard sell for me. I just find them so creepy.

I mean, come on, you have a horse with a Freudian horn that they like laying in virgin girls' laps (and never virgin boys, for some reason, it's ALWAYS girls)...

I saw it when I was a kid and it didn't make an impression. Then as an adult, everyone kept going on about it and hyping it up. I watched it again and was like: "....Really?"

It's an overrated movie.

Yeah, it just... didn't make much of an impression on me either. The book was the same way, I just... couldn't tell how seriously I should be taking it.

But, but, TLU has music by America!

Holy hell, I am so there for this one.

Hmmmmm. Never seen Flight of Dragons, but I love the other two. The Last Unicorn has a rocking soundtrack.

Flight of Dragons doesn't have as much going for it in terms of full soundtrack like The Last Unicorn does, but holy hell does it have a gorgeous opener:

Aaaah, I love and own all 3 of these. The Flight of Dragons is amazeballs and I will fight anyone who says it isn't.

I never stream because it's usually an inconvenient time for me, but I am gonna try to make it work.

OMG, Flight of Dragons! Animated Hobbit! (I've never seen Last Unicorn).

And the one time I really want to come to a stream, I can't. :(
