Re: why is body shaming of some groups okay but not others

It's not. It's one of the (several) reasons I don't tend to support fat acceptance movements as organized representative groups would have them. Body positivity does not only apply to larger bodies, guys.

I just don't understand a lot of the fat acceptance movement, frankly. I mean, discourage bullying and harassment, sure, but I think there comes a point when we have to admit that not everyone will be attracted to all sizes of people. I mean, one of my main reasons for losing weight is so I can bang/date the people I'm attracted to who aren't attracted to me, and that's okay.

Eh, ymmv on the skinny equals instant attractiveness. I've met skinny people who lack too much weight where their facial proportions seem off, such as their ears or noses being too big for their face. Where as there's a few people who are way overweight, but blow my mind of how gorgeous they are, such as housewifeswag for example. It's really a case by case thing, so you shouldn't really assume that losing more and more weight will equal instant attractiveness. It's better to go by what you feel is the right weight to stop at.

AYRT

And that's true, but I don't think it's unreasonable to assume everyone looks better when they are a healthy weight, whatever that means for them. A lot of the fat acceptance movement (at least that I've seen) has this underlying message that everyone should be considered physically attractive no matter their weight, and that isn't true.
