The movies aren't speaking directly to you or your life, they're not implying marriage is better than remaining single, especially the ones made 30 years ago. No one is judging you for not wanting marriage. Relax, OP.

I think they kind of are. It's difficult to think of a movie where a woman's choice to stay single to pursue a career/travel/whatever is presented as the right choice. Of course, for a movie to be a romcom there has to be rom, but "people [women] are only happy when they're married with kids" is one of those bedrock truisms like "everybody loves warm weather" or "the person who believes is always right, not the skeptic."

You're right, I hate those movies as well. Most of what people believe is rubbish. And I prefer my weather on the cool side. I also dislike both the taste and smell of bacon and coffee, which are often presented as universal things people love.

They're just lazy movie conventions which end up alienating many. They assume we're all the same, that's the problem.
