All right, I'ma make it personal.

When I was in 8th grade, a couple of girls with whom I thought I was friends decided to trick me online. They, through their actions, presented me with a choice: I could either "talk shit" about someone, or "lie." I wasn't supposed to know that this what they were doing, but I did. I realized it. And I decided to try and outsmart them. This wound up costing me my friendship with one of my closest friends.

If I could go back, this is what I would do: I would tell them that I knew what they were about, and that I wasn't going to play their game. I'd tell them to fuck off.

Similar experience, but also going to include not being brave enough to stand up for and not participate in the teasing of my brother when I was a kid (around 10-13 yrs old?) by people I had called friends (I'm assuming they've changed over time, but my truest friend stood by my brother).
