Sibling incest. I know it's often the best-developed relationship the characters involved have, but it'd be nice if it wasn't the vast majority of the fic written about sibling pairs.

I have bad news for you, but this isn't really a trend. This has been around in various fandoms since the dawn of fandom.

I figured the trends was the specific bit- like things current fandom is doing that annoy you. But maybe I'm just being pedantic.

It might work in some cases, but I just don't get it. Any incest, really.

Yeah, this is the type of thing I would love to see, and so often don't get. (I do write fic myself and love writing sibling relationships but I wish I had more to read!)

Incest is one of the biggest squicks I have. But that's because incest pretty much wrecked my family. The romanticized fic version has nothing on the real thing. D:

(Yes, I know, it's just a fantasy, but it really upset me when I was trying to do serious research and the first shit I found was just fanfic and porn.)

Yeah, same here. I finally decided to just not read fics tagged with "sibling incest" (or pseudo-sibling incest for adopted siblings, which really annoys me.) It leaves me with a lot fewer fic choices but at least I don't end up thinking "ew!" as often.

IAC... except when it comes to the Winchesters. They're relationship was so messed up, that incest didn't seem like the huge leap from canon that it does with 90% incest pairings.

Supernatural's just good for that sort of thing all around. Whether angels are actually 'siblings' or it's just a metaphor seems to depend entirely on which angels you're talking about, for example.

I always get the feeling that with the Winchesters, a lot of people ship them *because* it's incest, exploring the messed-up yet poignant dynamics of a dysfunctional sibling relationship through incest - which is a good reason to ship incest.

Whereas people ship most other incest pairings because they're too lazy and narrow-minded and unimaginative to come up with a way to write non-romantic meaningful interaction between siblings - which is not a good reason to ship incest.

Sibling incest is not really a fandom trend-- or really even a trend. Various depictions of sibling incest in various media has been going on since, well, forever. It's way more than just a pop culture trend.

I don't mind incest as long as it's not het. Just the theoretical possibility of a baby makes me want to vomit.
