Jumping from one character's POV to another's every other paragraph.

I'm guilty of doing this :( My beta's been great at pointing it out/making me aware of it. It's not my intention, but sometimes the fic just comes out that way. One I'm currently writing starts out like that, and I refused to change it. However, for future chapters, I'm more aware and I'm actively avoiding the POV jumps within scenes.

Yes! I find as time goes on that I really hate when POVs switch around a lot in general. Not just every other paragraph, but even in the same chapter at all. I prefer a whole chapter to stick to a single POV. And I prefer a whole story to stick to a single POV over that.

This used to be more of thing when people were transposing fic from e.g. RP logs or chats. One person had one character, someone else the other, so the head-hopping ran rampant.

I can't say I've seen it a lot in my recent reading, thankfully. Weird tense and POV slips yes, but not the regular every-other-paragraph thing.

Is it a trend or just bad writing? That annoys me when I see it, too. I don't mind switching of POVs, but at least separate it out into different scenes or different chapters. Jumping back and forth makes my head spin.

Declaring that a type of fic you don't like shouldn't be considered fanfic/allowed on archives. (yes I'm remembering that stupid "shipfic should be kept on personal blogs" secret")

Complaining about something in fanfic when you were already warned it would have it (certain ships, slash, etc)

Generally acting like you're entitled to order people to stop writing some fic or pairing or AU because you dislike it.
