Oh, shut up and go away. Nobody appointed you the Fangirl Police, you fucking busybody. Like what you like and leave other people the hell alone.

I'm not trying to be the Fun Police. I just think those issues are there and a concerted attempt to ignore them does no one any good. I don't think there's any real middle ground to find here, though. But thanks for your reply anyway.

The thing is though you're not obligated to constantly be dealing with those issues. You can be aware of them, already decided for yourself you're not going to let it ruin your fun, and move on.

Reading through their comments, I don't think they're saying that's wrong, I think they're saying it's just as wrong to dismiss or try to shut up people who want to be critical about media.

But no one (I think) is saying there's anything wrong in being critical, just that being told (in their own spaces) that "what they like is wrong" is not right.

Then where do you draw the line?

How do you define "in their own spaces"?

Because working by that logic, we shouldn't complain about anything China does because they shut off their internet so they can "have their own spaces".

Being a precious little snowflake doesn't deny anyone else the right to say whatever they hell they want about anything you say in a public venue. And your Tumblr, unless it's password locked, is a public venue, on space owned by someone that is not you and have the right to boot you out of it any time they choose.

FFS, Fictional characters =/= Real issues.

Let's start with that, because really, a ship you find "problematic" is not comparable to China's issues.

And no, if I'm speaking with my friends and someone I don't know starts screaming at me because they didn't like what I said, I'll call the police.
