Hobbit

Battle of the Five Armies

don't even care, loved the shit out of it. I was a bit weepy in parts but on the whole had a cracking good time, laughed more than once and cheered a lot.

I just got through Desolation of Smaug the other night, and was thoroughly unimpressed (except by bearded Richard Armitage, of course). How would you say this stacked up?

To give you another opinion, I was meh about it.

Especially now that I have the perspective of the trilogy.

Like, it had all the elements to make it cool, bu those elements somehow did not work together.

Well in Smaug I was just basically uninvolved. I didn't care about anyone or anything going on, and was mostly annoyed by the Matrix-like gumby CGI movements of the elves. So distracting.

I've been really underwhelmed by the Hobbit films so far. Weirdly though, it gives me great pleasure to know that there are people out there enjoying them. :)

I'm already looking forward to the Reverse Director's Cut, when someone takes all three movies and cuts them into one two-hour film that's actually of the book.

Yes, that means cutting all of Legolas and all of Tauriel. I'm very, very okay with that.

The Battle of Five Armies: Thorin, the fiction, and the franchise drowning in an olympic-sized pool of cheese.

Can I ask, are there any never-ending chase scenes in this movie? Because I really, really dislike how he lets them go on and on without a break - it's pretty much what's stopped me from re-watching Desolation of Smaug this Christmas.

I absolutely loved all three of them.
