(Anonymous) 2015-01-08 06:28 am (UTC)(link)If you can't see what's problematic about you basically saying "Don't shit in my backyard regardless of what I'm doing there because I say so!" then I'm not surprised people have issues with your other problematic likes. You are setting parameters for yourself that you would bitch at other people for having.

Especially when that's demonstrably false. (eg almost every woman who enjoy rape fantasties don't support irl rape.)

(Anonymous) 2015-01-08 08:46 am (UTC)(link)Nothing would ever be demonstrably false or accurate without the means and ability to challenge them in the first place. If you decide the things you enjoy are above challenge, reproach or criticism, then yes, that sort of attitude does reflect on your character.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-08 10:06 pm (UTC)(link)Whether you pay any attention to what they say is your choice, but you don't get to decide how/when/if they choose to comment on your choices. Just like you don't in Real Life. If you're going to be that precious about someone coming into your squee space to tell you you suck, I have no idea how you plan on functioning in the outside world where that's basically life. Your response to it is your only choice in the matter, because you cannot shut down someone's right to comment without shutting down your own right to enjoy the thing in the first place. Which is what you're doing by telling someone they can't come into this nebulously designated "space" of yours and criticize you and your likes.

(Anonymous) 2015-01-08 10:09 pm (UTC)(link)Well, exactly.
If you like something offensive, it makes people question your values and how you'd respond to such issues in the real world. It does not exist in some bubble, despite what you may think.
