Re: Do you think there's an automatic inherent power balance between a man and woman?

do you mean an actual power imbalance? as in, not imposed.

if so, then yes, at least during child-bearing years or younger, favor to the woman. women have babies and don't really need very many men in all honesty. don't get me wrong, i love men and want thousands of them around me, but it's just something that i think men and women are both aware of. many powerful and respected men throughout history have pointed out this obvious power imbalance.

I'm confused how you have apparently never ever read any history book that in any way mentions the concept of legal coverture. The ability to make babies has never, ever, EVER put women in a position of social or legal power over men. It has, in fact, been used for thousands of years as one of the most "compelling" reasons why women should be under the legal control of men.

hence why i said ACTUAL POWER IMBALANCE as opposed to IMPOSED.

A power imbalance that is imposed on you is an actual power imbalance. That's literally the definition of a power imbalance, one party having power to impose things on the other party. Also, "women not needing many men around to have babies" has resulted, in quite a lot of places, in women being locked up in harems or forced into plural marriages they didn't necessarily want, because one man CAN impregnate a whole lotta women, and hey, if men have power over women and are capable of keeping several of them as servants and sex toys, why not.

it's interesting that you say this but not that men tend to be physically stronger.

also, it's interesting that you seem to think women have some kind of leverage by making the babies because that's the kind of thing MRAs say but in reality it doesn't often work out that way. you see some cases (usually with dramatic divorces where the kids are older) but in general I don't think it really applies.
