Re: Do you think there's an automatic inherent power balance between a man and woman?

In a vacuum? No.

Taking into consideration a whole host of factors including race, social status, wealth, career, education, family background, health, city/state/nation of residence, sexual orientation, etc., there is the potential for huge power imbalances favoring either person. Also, what's the context? Are they just sitting in an empty room? Are they trying to find a date? Are they applying for higher education or for a job or for a raise/promotion? Are they in competition with each other in some way? Cooperating with each other in some way? What's their relationship to one another? I don't think you can really give a definitive answer to this question without knowing a lot more than just gender and age, to be honest.

Although given the fact that most of society does somewhat favor men, and that most men are physically stronger than most women, I would say that I would expect that if there is an imbalance, it probably falls in the man's favor if society's view of the sexes and/or physical strength was an important factor here.
