I consider myself a gamer since I've always had interest and passion for games. I'm a woman too. However for most of my years I've spent my days playing small downloadable 5 dollar games or short online games and FTP games and just a few years ago I started to buy "the big games" and get into the big franchises and massive ram absorbers. I don't think I would call myself a gamer, since I used to play only puzzle games etc, if I didn't have the obsession over gaming.

I think in this case what your ideals are define you as a gamer, not the games you play. But that's unfortunately the unrealistic, wishful view of the gaming community.
