When people flake out on plans and wait till the last possible minute to tell you. Emergencies don't count because those come up sometimes. What I'm talking about is calling them up to find out where they are and they go "Oh, I just didn't feel like it" or "I'm out doing X instead. Have fun!"

I had a coworker like that. We won't set up this weekend long camping trip only for her to cancel like...15 minutes after she got there. She left it so last minute she showed up!

I hate that. A friend of mine does this all the damn time, except for her it's, "I'm running errands. I'm trying to finish it up," and four hours later I get a, "Sorry, I fell asleep/errand running went on longer than I thought it would," text. The last time she flaked out she claimed that she had to wait for some film to finish developing at Wal-Greens, and she lives literally 3 minutes away from Wal-Greens.

Like her excuses to flake out are so flimsy, I would prefer if she just say that she doesn't want to hang out when I invite her to do things.

Or just say "I'm busy", "I'm tired", "not up for it" etc. There are tons of ways to not make plans that are both honest and diplomatic. :/

omg I haaaaaate that.

Seriously, don't make plans unless you intend to keep them.

Got sick? Family emergency? even like, accidentally double-booking (if it isn't a regular occurrence)? Understandable.

Acting like plans are optional? DON'T MAKE PLANS. If you're a spontaneous person by nature, don't pretend like you're going to do something you're not going to do. Just say "I'd rather play it by ear". As a person who is not terribly spontaneous and really likes to know what's coming and looks forward to things, it is such a downer when friends back out of plans. I'd rather they just not make them in the first place.

I hate that. Also when people say they'll call you back and don't do it.
