I was wrong about how badly the Dexter series finale it would be. It was much, much, much, much worse than I thought.


SPOILERS FOR THE WALKING DEAD MID-SEASON FINALE



I never thought they would kill Beth. I don't know why because it makes sense.

I never in a million years thought that Dexter would end that terribly either. If someone had told me years ago that the show would end with Deb being pulled off life support about being in a vegetative state and Dexter becoming a goddamn lumberjack I would have thought they were insane. Hell, I didn't watch the episode for about a week after it had aired and I was spoiled several times about him becoming a luberjack and I still didn't believe it. I just thought it was some kind of fandom joke. Like, maybe people were just making fun of the way he dressed or something.

I never thought they'd kill Beth because it seemed like they wanted to go Bethyl in the tv show, and while it was obvious they were going to kill someone in the mid-season finale, I really thought it would be Carol of the two of them, because Beth is young and pretty/Vasquez Always Dies/etc.

I'm not sure I like how they did it, because ideally I wanted Beth and Carol to escape on their own or at least have some interaction, but color me pleasantly surprised that they didn't do exactly what I expected.

Then again the series seems pretty good at subverting the Vasquez Always Dies trope (what with Andrea surviving longer than Lori, Michonne surviving longer than Andrea, and now Carol surviving longer than Beth) which is pretty fantastic, imo.
