Yeah, even though I'm pretty sure it's owned by some San Fransisco company now.

I think LJ will actually be okay as a place for communities for another while, especially huge ones like ONTD - if I didn't know better, I'd think LJ endorsed ONTD or something, whenever I go it looks more like a sub-page than an LJ in its own right. Which is fine, I don't have anything against communities, but I do think that's in LJ's future more than LJ the way we think of it. And less fan communities, more "people who knit unite!" or "bad service sucks!" communities.

Hardly anything's fannish on my flist anymore. Which is sad, because I miss that, but I don't post anything fannish either (if because no one else seems interested in it - kind of a vicious cycle).

Nope, still owned by SUP in Russia though it was/is run by something called Livejournal,Inc, in San Francisco; in 2009, they laid off a bunch of people there and moved product design/development to mother Russia. (According to wikipedia at least).

I really do miss the old fannish LJ days, that's for sure.

AYRT - I still hate that the guy sold it to people who were clueless about fan stuff. I understand being offered money and that he probably was sick of running it, but no one after him really got Livejournal's original purpose.

Apparently he's currently at google.

Eh, even ONTD is dying now. A lot of source sites got blacklisted because they got their panties in a bind and made threats to LJ about them using it. So now ONTD is being forced into doing original pieces or posting news through embedding Twitter. Some post are active, but it's no where near as active as it was.

AYRT - Oh, for the love of god. (Not you, the sites.) ONTD may not have been my favorite, but that's crazy. I miss when the outside media was largely unaware of fandom, because now that they know about it, they keep taking away fun things. And like I said, I'm not even that into ONTD.
