But is that medical doctor or some other form of PhD? It could very well be in, I dunno, art history.

It's a medical field and she'll be a specialist so I don't want to accidentally ID her cause if she does get better I don't want it traced back professionally.

if someone was getting a PhD in art history, I don't think many people would refer to it as "becoming a doctor" even if it's technically true

It could easily be a mistype, or OP could be ESL, or some other reason. And getting a doctorate in the humanities IS still "becoming a doctor", despite it not being frequently used that way in colloquial speech.

OP has clarified it's a medical field, so there's that, but from the information given there is no reason to assume it 100% was.

I mistakingly thought that it'd be clear but I can see where other anon could guess otherwise. (Like that doctor dog alien in treasure planet? Heheh) Mostly I was trying to indicate the breadth of studies but I don't properly understand the process so went for vagueness.

And I'm a really shitty phone typer :/
