I find him creepy, too, though not because he's 'perfect' --- LOTR Legolas was perfect --- but I was amazed how attractive and interesting Lee Pace is as himself in interviews. As Thranduil, I find his characterisation too camp, and I also think he's too young. I would have preferred a Thranduil nearer Elrond's age (and, at the very least, older than Orlando Bloom).

I know! I've always pictured Thranduil older as well, although maybe not as old as you do. It bugged me the whole time. Like, you can take Lee Pace and turn him into that, but you can't take Orlando Bloom and turn him into himself? I almost expected Legolas to call Thranduil "brother" instead of "father".

I was so disappointed with DOS, because they CGIed OB's face and made him look bloated. And I was so happy with BOFA, because he was back to normal again!

It could be possible they did the opposite to his father then. Thranduil looked fine to me in DOS and suddenly, in BOFA, something uncanny had happened to his face and he looked overly photoshopped or something, idk.

Hobbit 3: A guy who looks a bit like Orlando Bloom (Evans) talking to Orlando Bloom in makeup to make him look a lot less like Orlando Bloom.

That, and Thorin's Swimming Pool of Cheese Dip.

Meh, I thought Elrond (and Celeborn) were too old/rough looking. They were supposed to be appear ageless.

And the actor playing Elrond is just fugly, too.

It's like they decided all the "older" male elves were exempt from the perfect/ageless thing, except for Thranduil. But they made him look too Photoshopped, they should have just gotten someone younger.

Well, fugly's in the eye of the beholder... I'd say Elrond's interesting looking. And he has the presence.

I was disturbed by how photoshopped I found Bilbo, never mind Celeborn and Legolas.

Martin Freeman has eye bags. They're part of his face architecture. When I saw early promo material for the film, the eye bags had mysteriously disappeared in a way that made me feel queasy. But at least they couldn't do that in the film itself, right? Nope, they photoshopped his face in the film. Really disturbing. It made him look kind of grey as well, took the life out of him.

There must be other people who were disturbed by this as well, but I've seen no comments anywhere.

So THAT'S what made him look weird! Man, that's been annoying me for ages and I couldn't quite put my finger on it.

Ugh, the movies really needed to stay away from the CGI.

I agree. What really bothered me was that Arwen is described in the books as being the female version of Elrond, which says to me that Elrond must be very beautiful too. I like Hugo but he is not beautiful like that. Also, I was so annoyed when after the LOTR movies came out, a lot of stories mentioned Elrond's receding hair line. :(

My thing with Celeborn is he's such a buff dude. I kind of like him a little bit but he should've been cast as a Man and not an Elf. It just doesn't fit.

Don't forget that Elrond is "Elrond Half-Elven." He looks older, where other "old" male elves (Thranduil, Celeborn) don't, because he's half-human.

I'm sorry but this is a head cannon and not fact. Just because he's Half-Elven doesn't mean anything with regards to his looks. Tolkien never said any such thing. Please put "I believe" or some such qualifier before stating things like this as fact when they are not facts.

I liked how Celeborn looked as a contrast to Galadriel. She's from the west whereas his people hadn't left Middle Earth, and I liked the idea thgat he'd be a little "rougher."
