...It's not losing your humanity to not be bothered by blood or gore irl. There are plenty of careers where you have to deal with that kind of thing on a regular basis, and if you are sensitive to that sort of thing you just can't last in those fields.

If you see someone in pain enough times there comes a point where you stop having an immediate visceral reaction to seeing someone in pain. It doesn't mean you automatically stop caring about the idea of someone dying or that you start actively condoning it, it just means the situation has stopped affecting you in a way that would normally cause you to become frightened or sad.
