I get that there's limited time but in hindsight I wish they'd talked more about REALLY IMPORTANT SHIT that's still happening and less about the names and dates of stuff that isn't as relevant that were studied five times in five different years. Yes, it's important to understand that the Spanish and Portuguese people conquered South America and subjugated/partially eradicated the indigenous people (the latter part was also not talked about a whole lot compared to the Cool European Conquistadores, iirc) but I don't really care about the names and birth dates and favorite thing to eat for dinner of all of them.
And slavery is real, both straight-up chattel slavery and other institutions that are really slavery in disguise, some of which strongly resembles chattel slavery in practice and some of which is different on the surface. The sex trade is a big part of this too.
