On the one hand, I used to get a couple of them out every other trip to the library, because it's honestly like watching a formula cop show: you'll get pretty good cases and interesting cast stories no matter which one you pick up. But I recently went all the way back to the first book, just to remember where it started, and kind of realised that Eve & Roarke's romance really, really, really skeeved me out in the early books. Which is something of a problem since, you know, they're the main pair.
It gets better in the later books, and I love the rest of the cast, and the cases are usually pretty good. I still love the books as comfort reading. I just think that from now on I'm going to stick to around book 6 and upwards, and try to forget how creepy Roarke was at the start.
