(Anonymous) 2015-01-15 10:25 am (UTC)(link)It's kind of funny, it seems like religious people really think Sebastian's conversations with Fenris are cute and amazing and bromancey, whereas the non-religious people prickle each time it comes up. I mean, I guess that's obvious, but I genuinely thought most of Sebastian's conversion attempts were pretty terrible. Maybe because I'm not down with the "bad things happen for a reason" justification for God, but really? Fenris had to watch a boy bleed to death by the magisters... so Fenris would be repulsed by it and try to prevent it from happening again? What was God doing for that boy then? Ridiculous. And that any good stroke of luck Fenris may have very rarely had (i.e. escaping) is attributed to the Maker, whereas the bad stuff isn't, or is just to "teach" him... I find that really condescending.
The only dialogue that didn't bother me as much was the one where Sebastian tells Fenris it isn't his fault that he did bad things at the will of his master. But.... then again, Fenris never seemed to think it was his fault in the first place.
